A friend of mine has a 20" open boat with a Mercruiser 3.0 Lt carbed engine, would like to know ;

How many CC would that engine be ?

What would be it's fuel consumption in gallons at wot with him alone ?

Min-Max RPM parameters for that engine ?

Thanks in advance

Ayuh,... Last I knew, there's 1000cc's in a liter, so, it's 'bout 3000cc's...

Gas consumption is an unanswerable question...

It idles at 650 rpms, 'n Wot is 4200 to 4800 rpms, dependin' on it's vintage...

Thanks,

Ooops, sorry, should have asked how many HP more or less for that given engine ?

About inboard motors, are they guzzler motors, would you say same consumption as 4 stokes outboards for same HP , definitely less guzzler than 2 strokes, right ?

Ayuh,... They've been listed as anything from 115hp, to 140hp...

No motor is a gas sipper, at Wot...

You could use the old standard of 10% of horsepower as GPH at WOT. Not very accurate really, but that would be 14 GPH if it is a 140.

That only works for 2 stroke engines.

As a guide, my 220hp 4.3litre V6 uses around 61 litres per hour at WOT (16 US gallons per hour).

Very little difference between a 4 stroke inboard and a 4 stroke outboard.

I agree ^^^^ buuuuttt, even a modern 135 Merc 3.0 uses 11.5 gallons an hour which is no that far off ;)

Thanks everybody for their tech contribution, will go for a spin with full tank, just in case. 2 strokes engine consumes near 12% of their HP at wot per gallon/hour.

Well, if you are using too much fuel, you need a smaller girlfriend. LOL JK
