I need help with my etec 115.. engine crank and idle fine everytime but once i put it in gear then it will stall and i have to push the choke couple time for it to go. I m guessing the fuel pump or the fuel line assembly . can anybody show me how to test the fuel pump or diagnose this problem . thanks

First off if it is a 115 E-tec there is no choke on it. I would say take it back to an Evinrude dlr, have him hook up his lap top to it and see if you have any codes. There are map updates he can install in your Emm which may over come this prob.

If you don't have the diagnostic sw and special cable plus an OEM shop manual and BRP training, there's no way you can do any significant work on an E-Tec fuel or ignition system. BTW, year and model won't help here. As Boobie pointed out, E-Tecs are fuel injected and none have chokes. All aspects of fuel management, oiling and ignition are controlled by the EMM.

An E-Tec, running correctly, will never stall, period!

The biggest cause of stalling in an E-TEC is worn or dirty sparkplugs.

you can go to www.etecownersgroup.com for plug charts, indexing instructions and videos, and a library of technical information and publications in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.

it's a 1998 E115tslecm, the choke is at the key ignition, by pushing it in with the key.seem like it's starving for fuel, once i push the key in couple of time then engine will pick up and go.

If it's a '98 it isn't an E-Tec. You have a carbed engine, clearly NOT an E-Tec. They weren't even made in 1998.
