We may be changing to an ETEC finally, but the handle is too long.
Our present Susuki handle is @30 inches and just right.
The new ETEC handle is @36 inches and would hit the seat. (Not a good idea!)
Is it possible, or bad idea, to cut out 6 inches and refabricate it back together?
Moving the seat forward 6 inches would require tearing the whole boat apart to get to the backup plate.

Re: ETEC Tiller Handle

I would contact BRP directly, and ask them about possible options.
Maybe they have a shorter handle available that the dealer is not aware of.
Or perhaps you could use one from a lesser hp motor.

Let us know how you make out with this.

Re: ETEC Tiller Handle

Thanks Roscoe

I assumed that the ETEC handle is made of aluminum and if so aluminum welding, with interior support plates, could put it back together.
It then would be a matter of shorting cables and wires.

It is good that evinrude came up with a proper handle but they should of measured Yami, Suski, Honda handles first. I am sure that we wont be alone in finding it too long for use in their boat.

Is it possible to operate with the handle angled up a little.
I know my 88 50 hp can be operated all the way to verticle.Though certainly not very easy at that position. I'm sure BRP figured the longer tiller makes it easier to handle.
