Ethanol Safe Hoses?

Is there such a thing?

I?ve been reading around and noticed some people saying to change out the hoses for ethanol safe hoses. These people stated that the ethanol mix eats away at the hose and they found black goo in their carbs. Could it be that their hoses where just old?

The newest hose ratings came effictive Jan 1 2009. Too early to tell if it's ethanol "safe" but should be better than the older hose. The safest thing is to use non-ethanol fuel.

Don't have much of a choice here since it all is a blend. I forget what the blend is but there is enough of it in there to make the difference on maintenance.

Check with marinas. Most of them have non-ethonal fuel. Some BP stations around here don't use ethonal.

Haven?t found a station or marina that doesn?t have some ethanol in their fuel in NJ. Maybe an airport would have fuel that is ethanol free but it would be illegal to fill my boat up with cans in the marina.

Do a serch on "valvtect fuel in New Jersey" and you'll come up with a list of sources.

Ethanol has been a fact of life for years. Hose made in anywhere near recent years should be just fine.

I guess it's time to change the old hoses when I rebuild the carbs.

The marina across the creek from me has the valvtect gas but it just sounds like regular gas with the additive in it. They don't have any postings on the pumps or in their shop about selling the Valvtect fuel.

i have been changing all old hoses to alcohol resistant lines.
