EVC warning

Hi. I have a 2008 VP 4.3Gxi-jf and it started to give me warnings as "WARNING, check EVC system". Operator manual says you should stop the engine immediately (which I only read later, since I had to come back to marina). Manual also suggests restart the engine, which I also tried several times...and the pop-up message appears again. But everything looks fine and feels fine. The only thing I noticed is the fuel gauge drops to "empty" when this warning appears. After restar again it shows half a tank (which is correct) until the warning appears again.
Any suggestions what this could be? Manual doesn't say much.

No luck. For some reason I don't find faults menu at all, nothing. The only thing I do find is the oil pressure @1000rpm is around 5psi when it should be ~6 psi, and at 2000rpm is around 50 when it should be ~20. Didn't rev it any higher while on the hose but supect it will climb too high when at 3000 or 4000 (providing the rise is linear).

The 6 psi is normally what is listed in the manual as minimum (as bare min). Normal oil pressure at idle would be 2o or more

Might need it reset, but no expert so lets see if muc has any ideas

Sorry, not much help. Need to know EVC- A or B or C or C2 or C3 or D or E or E2 etc. There are many versions, they are all different. Sometimes I can take a good guess from the serial number, sometimes need to hook up scan tool.

Oh well. Disconnected the power and started everything up again....and after a while the same thing. Now however there is faults menu again visible (can't really understand). MID140, PID96, FMI3. as far as I could find from the web is referring to faulty fuel sender unit? Another words remaining fuel level can't be displayed. What I don't understand is why the manual asks to shut down the engine immediately??
Anyway, will rip out the floor panels to access the tank and see what's going on with the wiring and so on, maybe it"s an easy fix.

Not sure you even have the digital fuel sender so don't do that yet

MID 140 MID stands for module ID Number 140
this is the module that is reporting the fault

PID 96 PID stands for Parameter ID Number 96
this is what system in that module had the failure

FMI 3 FMI stands for Failure Mode Identifier
this is what type of failure has occurred

the trouble with this is MID 140 isn't a module that's used in a 2008 boat
looks like it's a module that is used in trucks and industrial equipment

PID 96 is a system in the powertrain control unit (PCU) MID 187
and is does concern the fuel level.

You need to understand that the EVC system won't display all faults. It is possible you have a fault that thinks you should stop the engine immediately. It's just not displaying that fault. The system won't shut down the engine to save it. The idea being it might be a life and death situation that it would be better to blow up the engine while trying to get out of the way of that big ship that's about to run you over.

What you got going on I have no idea. Wouldn't hurt to look at the fuel sender and it's wiring. Like I said earlier, need a serial number and maybe what EVC system is installed to look any deeper.

You may need to find someone with Vodia. Not all dealers have this scan tool.
