pulled the fuel pump on my 77 OMC stern drive 235 hp 351W and the fluid on the arm of the pump is a milky color. Is this as ominous as I think it is? do I have water in the oil and if so, what will it take to fix it?

dan-not a good sign.....time to investigate.....most common scenario-head gasket/manifolds/risers....change oil and filter but don't run the engine until you figure out where you're getting the water. good luck !

crap....thats what I thought. Gonna start pulling stuff off. what should I look for as I pull off the risers, manifolds, heads etc.? Someone said pull the plugs and check for water. If its there, what exactly does that signify? This boat is just about to **** me off....Thanks for your help.
Dan

take the head and intake off and then you will see what is causing the probleml...........water in the crankcase is an indication of a cracked block........ did you winterize the boat ????????????????????? if you did then the manifolds are bad........?????????????maybe............good luckl...............

I bought this motor in the spring, so I can't swear to the winterizing. I saw no water on the dipstick though. can't other things cause water in the oil, i.e. bad manifolds, risers, head gasket, etc.?
Thanks

you could have a manifold leak' head gasket If that engine sat a while then the thermostat could be stuck open then the mtr. can't reach the proper temp and will let condensation build up inside of it
