How big a difference is there in speed from a 115hp vs a 90 hp? This engine will be replacing a 1996 Force 120hp on a 20 foot aluminum deck boat (Seaark Suntastic 20)

I don't think it would be that big,a few mph slower but not 1/2 or anything like that.

depends on the year of the 90 or 115. the force engines were always rated at the power head, they did not follow with the agreement to rate hp ratings at the prop (acutal output of the motor. the 90 could actually have more power than the 120. the 115 will definately have more power.

Re: Evenrude 115 vs 90

Agree with the above post. We had a 17ft sea pro and my uncle had a 17ft astro. Our sea pro had an 88 spl while the astro had a Force 90hp. We had 6 adults in the sea pro and the 88 spl would just pull right out of the hole. The force 90hp would hesitate with just 3 people in the boat. The sea pro was a heavier boat too. So the force engines aren't what they're claimed to be.

I agree also. The Force motors are nowhere near what they are made out to be.
