So my tilt got stuck up while I was out and finally a couple hours later it went down when I started the engine out of the water. I assume the vibrations did it. I thought it was just low on tilt/trim fluid, but I added it and the moter would not go down again while on the trailer. Busing down on it it felt as if a solinoid valve was stuck or something. Being that there was some fluid leaking out of the lower trim pistons I decided to take it off and rebuild it. Once I got it off the tilt did go down I imagine again from the vibration, this time from me banging out the top pin.
I bought a manual for the engine, but wanted to post up here for help and to document the process.
I do not have the manual yet, or the tools, but is there anything more that I will need than the o-ring kit that I should know of right off the bat. Where should I buy this? online from BRP for $30 The motor (tilt/trim) seems to be running fine though the casing is rusted. I know I will need a face spanner wrench to open up the 2 shorter trim hydraulic end head nuts. Not sure on the distance beween centers or pin hole size but will and not sure where a good place to buy the tool either. To get the right size one would be nice:
or adjustable
Not sure what other special tools I might need.
Everything is covered in grey enamel paint so I would like to sand blast the parts that I can and spray paint.
Also the sensor that tells the tilt it is all the way down to shut the motor off is not working. Should I fix that as well? It does not move smothly at all.
Any tips would be apreciated. I will post pics up of the unit later and as I start to take it apart.
Here is the parts drawing
