Evenrude 9.9 1985

Out of ideas. I have a enenrude 9.9 1985 outboard<br />and replaced the impeller, housing and still no water fron the pee hole. I now have the lower unit off again and tried hookind a 3/8 hose to the water pick up tube and still no water through the pee hole . I have tried running a small wire through the pee hole and nothing . Any Ideas

Well AZ....seeing that yer from Florida and probably run in the salt, maybe one or more passage is just plugged with salt. Have you tried compressed air? Sometimes blowing back through the pee hole will open it up. <br /><br />When you hook up the hose to the water tube, does the water come out the exhaust housing?

I have narrowed it down I've pulled the thermostst housing and yes its full of salt and crud. The last piece is the pickup up tube Its clogged . I do not have a manual but question . does it come out or is it part of the middle unit

If you mean the water intake on the lower unit, yes it will come out. But you will need to drop the lower unit to do so.....or, if you mean the tube going up into the midsection that supplies the block with water, you would need to pull the power head to get at it. It's connected in with the exhaust tube which is bolted to the bottom of the power head.

Thank you OBJ I don't have a manual . But good news . I managed to use a coat hanger and I ran it up into the pick up tube with some force and a few flushings and we now have water through the pee hole. Maybe I should purchace a manual. Or maybe more bait . Thanks

If that does not solve the problem pull the heads & exhaust manifold cover & get the salt water crud out of there.
