I have a soft floor. Has any of you got lucky and not had to replace stringers? How do you cut the old floor out? If it just needs a floor can that be done in a weekend or no? Thanks, Ron

The first time when i was 15. Ohh thats not what you mean.... I think it can happen but once the floor is soft it is most likely rotten and rot spreads so im betting that 9 times out of 10 the stringers have some rot somewheres on them. If they are glassed down right though they should be ok. Good luck and i hope thats the case with your boat.

Re: ever get lucky?

Ohh and i used a circular saw and a angle grinder for the edges to get my "deck" out. JB is going to tell you that boats dont have floors so be ready. I adjusted the circular saw so that it was only cutting as deep as the thickness of my deck. Ya got to be careful around the edges and thats why i used the angle grinder for that so i could see what i was doing. I have heard of people leaving the edges there and glassing the new deck to the edges that are still there from the old deck. That should work as long as there is no rot on the edges that you leave from the last deck. Whatever you do, dont just put a new deck on top of your old deck. It will rot both pieces faster than before. Good luck and there is a lot of different ways to cut it out so im sure that someone else will chime in here soon with other ideas.
