Hi everyone I just acquired my first boat! It is a 1989, 16-foot Starline Sierra walkthrough with an Evinrude 100 XP. What is everones opinion on the 100 XP? Is this a good motor? What seperates the XP's from the non XP engines? Anything I should look out for or be concerned about? Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Re: Evinrude 100 XP

Other than the fancy badging, the 100 has carbs which will flow more fuel than the 90. I'd do a compression check to baseline your engine. If the compression is ok, with proper care, it should be a reliable engine. There were tens of thousands of these flatback crossflows made over the years-a popular engine that is easy to find parts for.
