And what exactly would you like us to tell you? What specific information are you looking for? If you know what you want, go shopping. This isn't the place to do that however unless you would be in the market for a very late model engine. Then click on the "Boat Motors" button at the top of this page.

It's a crossflow V-4. A very durable engine, if maintained. It's one of my favorites.

gass guzzling has more to do with setup, prop, controls, setback, drive height, prop, lowerunit condition, bottom of the boat clean and smooth, load, etc etc etc than it does with what type of engine your running.

try running it at 3/4 throttle instead of WOT.

a tach and the propper prop is a must

What is the differance between (besides 10 yrs) the 1988 110hp x-flow & my 1978 115hp x-flow?

Re: evinrude 110 v-4

There is not a whole lot of difference other than they are NOT interchangeable. Both are 99.6" CID blocks.

The 1978 is powerhead rated, the 1988 is prop rated. In other words, the 110 will outperform the 115.

Both can be thirsty. If you run either at a nice cruise speed of 3500 to 4000 RPM, they can return decent fuel economy.

I run a pair of 1987s (SeaDrives) & have been satisfied. Mine are quite happy at 4,500.
