I have a '85 Evinrude 115 V4 Crossflow that I am currently having to rebuild because of a detondation in the #1 Cylinder....damaged the piston really bad. When I took the cylinder head to be honed, the machinist told and showed me that the head was very clean and only damaged in the #1 Cylinder where there was a hairline crack in the cylinder wall between the exhaust ports. He advised me that he would have to sleeve this cylinder to repair it. I have had another machine shop tell me that they could mig weld the crack and bore or hone the cylinder for a better fix. I believe the sleeve is the better option but Im not a professional here. Also is $200 a good price for a sleeve job.
