I've been wondering whether there exists the the low speed knob or not in the tiller arm of my 15 HP Evinrude. It seems that the low speed knob at the end of the tiller has never rotated since the whole handle including the knob seems to be like one piece. Does anybody know if there has been models without this low speed option? I have 1996 6 HP Evinrude with exactly similar tiller arm and the low speed adjustment works (rotates) as expected.

Yours seems it's kind of fixed ? My old Evi 15/96 had one which rotated. The stop switch and lanyard are located way before the twist grip begins towards the left side of the arm. Is the idle rpm too low and trying to correct it with the idle adjuster ?

This is not a big problem but I know how it should work if it really is the option in this model. In my case the rotating idle knob seems to be fixed in the throttle handle. The meaning of this adjuster is to keep idle appropriate e.g. for trolling, nothing else.

on the parts diagram the knob connects to a small cable which rotates a gear at the bottom of a vertical shaft..

presumably if you find the gear and shaft in your model one would think it should do the job of adjusting the throttle...

please post your engine model on the plate

The kill switch arrangement was used on the 91 and 92 model of the " old style " 9.9 / 15 OMC .

looks like a Belgium made model... see an old post from 2008 ...

b-----belgium
e-----evinrude
15----15 hp
ba----ac lightning -rope start
en----1992
m-----model run or suffix

Model Be15baenm
Serial No 08916066

According to this it is a year 1992.

When I look at the parts lists it indicates a 1992 thermostat sits at the top and is held in by three bolts.

My thermostat sits at the bottom low in the cowling behind the cowling cover switch why is this. Is this possible to order spares as I am now lost please advise does not tie up to Model Be15baenm.
It has the newer type tiller arm with kill switch on the side with a lanyard ............

The older cylinder head can be put on a 1992 model or an older powerhead could be installed.-----All pretty simple to figure out when motor is on my work bench.-----The model # in post # 13 is a 1992.
