I just purchased a 12.5 foot Sears game fisher (fiberglass) with a 1979 Evinrude 15 hp engine (model #15904). I got that with a pretty nice trailer all for $400. I'm proud of that. So now I have this duck boat and duck season is just a few days away. What ratio do I mix the oil and gas at? Any other suggestions on taking care of this boat and motor? Thanks for your help.

Geary

Welcome to iboats.

You probably got a 3 gallon tank with that. That's 8 oz to 3 gal regular unleaded gas.

Check the gearlube. Don't run over any rockpiles ... or other duck hunters. If you hear a shot, don't bother ducking. It'd be too late. Carry oars and an anchor. And most important, a woodduck shot with a 10 ga with 00 buckshot at close range isn't going to have much usable meat. :D

Thanks for your help. That's good advice about the 10 gauge. I will watch out for that.
Geary

You've got a very good little motor. Their most common weak spot is the gears in the tiller handle for the throttle. Make sure they're always fully engaged when you have the tiller tilted up or they will jump out of sync or even break.
Decarb it, too.
