Evinrude 15 Hp Model Number

I was just given a old Evinrude 15 hp electric start, I was told it was a 1956 model. I've seached for a model number from top to bottom and can't find one. I would like to restore this motor but will need repair manual. Is there a way to determine which model it is without being able to find a model nomber? Any help would be appreciated...

Normally located on a tag on the port side of the transom mount bracket. Some say you can find it on the top of the power head close to the head on a small frost plug looking cap which is about the size of a quarter. Best of luck. I hope it's a good one. Rick.

Okay now we are making some progress...The plug has 15016 20102...How do I determine the year from this?

You were told right... It is a 56' 15hp.
