Evinrude 15 not running

I have bought a boat with a non running evinrude 15 horse motor on it. I have bought a Evinrude repair manual for it and trouble shot the ignition end of the motor. Everything tested out good except for the peak voltages, but everything ohmed out good. Couldn't do the peak voltage on them because the meter I have doesn't do that. Going to take carb off tomorrow and clean it real good but other than that I will have no idea. Sprayed some starting fluid in the intake to see if it would start up and I did not (and I know starting fluid isn't good for the motor).

What are the compression readings?

If it's got good spark then the powerpack is fine. Like my man Zeph said, measure compression, it's key to getting a motor to fire.

dont spray starter fluid any more...it has no oil in it....if you need to spray get a spray bottle and put some of your premixed in it..

now...if the motor didnt fire over with the ether...then you dont have spark..I am guessing...


it may not START but it should fire over with ether!!!!!!!!!!
that to me would be a sure sign of bad or no spark...

get a spark tester.and test the spark

buy some new spark plugs..
