Hi and good day to you all.I have a 1970 18hp evinrude fast twin, the problem i have is that when i try to start it,i move the twist grip on the tiller arm to the stop for starting, but the cam on the base plate is nowhere near to opening the carb to the necesary amount of opening,if i open the throttle by hand to the just open amount it starts ok,i have taken the cam of to see if it can be adjusted and it can't,there are just 2 fixed holes in it and the base plate. Also if you select forward gear and open the throttle to full revs the base plate doesn't go round to the stop, and the throttle cam doesn't go far enough round to open the carb.
I did have a 1970 model of the same engine, and i seem to remember that the throttle cam could be adjusted on that one,but a could be mistaken, any help would much appreciated.Regards Phil
