Hi,

I need to find out how to re-install the recoil starter with enough slack to allow the pull handle to stick out through the cowling without engaging the pressure relief valves on the cylinder. I have done a lot repair on this motor and I have it running well now. However, when I put the cowling on, and pull the starter rope out far enough to fit through the cowling, the lever that engages the pressure relief valves for easier starting is activated. How do I fix this? I have checked in both the Seloc manual and the original manual from Evinrude for instructions, but I have not found it. Any help will be appreciated.

Pulling the rope out further yet, then letting it retract will let those valves close properly.

Most folks unhook the compression relief. Does yours actually work? wow.

That worked. But I guess that you knew it would. Thank you very much, sir.

Hi,

What can I say, I am fussy about details. As much as possible, I keep this motor as close to original as possible. It is a great piece of engineering and deserves respect.
