evinrude 1970 85hp

i took the lower unit the machine shop and had a prop seal installed but now i can't the unit on.the shaft seem to run into an object. can i get some help?

Just keep trying, turning the flywheel a bit as you push up on the LU. Those 4-spline shafts have to be lined up just right & it takes a bit of trial and error before you get it. Much easier with two people. You do know you have the 2 water pump tubes to line up, right?

You must rotate the shaft with the prop and make sure the water tube is lined up when trying to install it. It can take some finess to get it to line up. Put a dab of grease on the water tube grommet to aid installation. Sometimes it helps to have 2 people when installing the lower unit.
