I need to replace both throttle and gear shift cables for my evinrude 55 1978
i believe it has an evinrude/johnson remote box (white with red stripe,aux socket,throttle friction. warm up lever on top. no lanyard switch) is this johnson/evinrude?
is it the allen screw at the end of the arm in the throttle box that i loosen to remove/insert the inner cable?
do new cables come with the plastic barrell on the brass shaft or do you have to remove them some how?
lastly it seems that at the ends of the cable there is a brass thread onto the brass rod,do i need to adjust this or is that just how the cables come?
any help would be much appreciated.
