I Attempted to replace the water pump on a 1991 Evinrude VE60TLEIB using kit 432955. This is my first time to replace a marine engine water pump, and to prepare, I viewed U-tube videos showing the process, which included installing O-rings under the impeller, and in the groove on the splined end of the drive shaft. When disassembling my unit, I found no O-rings anywhere, not on or in the pump or the drive shaft. My drive shaft has no grooves on the splined side. The 432955 kit states "This kit does not require the installation of an O-ring between the impeller and driveshaft, and between the impeller housing cup and impeller housing." I assume that to mean no O-rings in the pump, under or above the impeller? That's contrary to the mentioned videos. Also, since the drive shaft does not have any grooves, I assume no o-ring on it??? This is a South Western Kansas boat that probably has less than 100 hours of run time on the engine (I bought it used). I got it running but plan on doing the service bulletin 2276R1. This forum has a very good tutorial on that. I appreciate any help. Thanks from Kansas.

Look at the bottom of the plastic housing if there is a groove there it gets the funny looking seal. The rubber thicker seal gets slid down the driveshaft and sits on top of the housing it only fits one way. At the top of the drive shaft on the splines there is usually a groove for an o-ring. There should be a good guide with that kit on how to do the pee-hole update. That kit fits many different years of motor and not all the parts may be used on your model.
