I was running at WOT and suddenly my engine lost all power and died. Throttle response changed to having almost no resistance when I twisted on the tiller handle. Popped open the cowling and sure enough the plastic piece that holds the throttle cable to the engine is broken. I can buy a new throttle cable for $110, it just seems like overkill if all I need is the plastic piece. I also have that fear in my head of 'if it broke once, it will break again'. I'd be happy to move to the newer style of something like a teleflex - if it makes sense on a tiller. I just didn't know if anyone has a better solution. Motor is a 1990 E25RLESB.
