I got Evi 3012 with badly rusted cylinders and piston rings. Have spent lot of days looking in internet for pistons and rings OS 0.02 but nothing came out. Is it any che to replace pistons and rings from small motors like trimmers or blowers???
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Evinrude 3012 parts. Help

In all my years of being an Evinrude mechanic, I doubt I've ever seen any oversize pistons and rings in a 3hp. But yes, I do know they existed. .020 rings were part number 203398, replaced by 378414. marineengine.com has lots of them. .020 Pistons were part number 277283, replaced by 383240. Lotsa luck finding those.

Looking for other engines that will fit is going to be an exercise in futility.

Your best bet is going to be just replace the powerhead. I'll bet a free want ad at The Antique Outboard Motor Club Forums - Webvertize will turn something up.

Salvage yard link under top secret file at the top of this forum is a good source. You can likely find a good/used powerhead, swap out the magneto/recoil/carb and be good to go. Basic powerhead from '52 (yours) through '67 should bolt right up. Someone will chime in if I'm mistaken.. it happens :)

Good luck!

Agree with Frank, post a wanted ad at aomci.org, a local member will be able to help you out with a good powerhead that you can simply bolt on. That will save you alot of time and money.
