Evinrude 4 hp driveshaft frozen

I have an 1997 4 hp evinrude. When attempting to replace the water pump, the drive shaft is frozen in the powerhead. I have purchased a service manual, but would appreciate steps / process to repair this problem as it it not directly addressed in manual. <br />Thanks in advance for any help/ advice
