Evinrude 4HP: Carb problem? (continued)

To reiterate, I have no vacuum through the throat of the carb.<br /><br />I pulled the leaf plate assy and checked it. The leafs (reed valves) are all free and the assy was installed properly such that the reeds were pointing inward toward the cylinders. I put the assy back on, put my thumb over the hole in the plate and pulled the motor through. No suction. Shouldn't there be some suction against my thumb? <br /><br />Xcusme suggested: "Just some thoughts....<br />Did you replace the upper and lower crank seals??<br />Did you use Loctite 518 or equiv. to seal the powerhead? ..."<br /><br />Although, I did replace the seals and sealed the powerhead, what if there is a leak in the crankcase somewhere? How can I find it? Any good leak detection techniques out there?
