evinrude 55 difficult to start,wont idle

evinrude 55 1978 2cyl difficult to start,when it does start it idles fine then gradually gets slower until it stops,then is very hard to start again?

could this be just a carb problem,or something more serious?

any help would be much appreciated

Have you tryed pumping the bulb while it's running?

no i havnt tried that,could that mean a fuel pump problem?

the bulb does go hard when primed

if the bulb is hard when pumped up ,then is soft when it stalls i would check all fuel line connections first , then go to the fuel pump . Good luck!!
