Is there an aftermarket or OEM alternator available for 6hp Evinrude model E6BLEDD? Currently there is none on the motor and want to use as a recharger for small sailboat battery.

Re: Evinrude 6hp Alternator

Hi Larry,
Yes, there was (is?) an alternator available for your motor. You'd need the stator, up under the flywheel, the rectifier, the wire block, and the battery cable. I believe these are all available through your local Johnrude dealer. Alternatively, you might find similar parts on junked motor if you have a motor graveyard nearby.... Most of the "Sail Master" 6 and 8hp models had the charging system as standard issue. I don't think it was a very beefy charging system, only a few amps, but enough to keep the battery topped off for lights, etc.
- Scott

The part number for the factory 4 amp charging kit for your 1996 6hp is 176960. It's around $75.
