evinrude 7.5hp 7514 ignition tune up

Hello i have a 1954 7.5 7514.I have the flywheel off and i dont see any marks for the timing on it,am i missing something?? it just say .020 point gap but i thought that was just a starting point?? my points are now set at .020 and engine does run,just want to fine tune it. any ideas?? thanks

Set the points at .020" when the points are open at their fullest. This happens to occur when the fiber point cam rider is aligned with the keyway on the crankshaft.
