My engine came to a dead stall one morning and I discovered the melted stator was the cause. Replaced the stator and now engine cranks as if the timing is off. Is there a way to advance/retard the timing? The piece thats directly under stator is attatched to linkage and rotates as if it could be what I need to play with but I'm a novice to outboards.
