Evinrude 85HP Carburetor Or Fuel Issue ?

I have a 1972 Evinrude 85 HP Model number 85293R. I’ve got an issue with my Evinrude. It’s ran good all year and recently the amplifier assembly went out. I replaced that and I also replaced the fuel pump and fuel lines, cleaned the carbs and put kits on them. Now if I pull the choke out and crank it. It fires right up, I let it run for a minute and push the choke in and it immediately dies. If this a carburetor issue or a fuel delivery issue and or how would I go about testing either one?

The carburetors are shown with fixed jets , no adjustments.--------What other trouble shooting has been done on this motor ?-----What does a compression test show ?----Removed the flywheel to inspect ignition cleanliness ?----Set the points at 0.010" gap ?

Compression is at 95 on 3 of the cylinders and the 4th one is at 92 . I will pull the flywheel and check and see what I find there. I have no idea what I am getting into with points but I will check and see what my service manual has on it to before I start. Any other suggestions is appreciated.

Perhaps run at night to see if spark is leaking anywhere.-----Look under the spinning flywheel for sparks.----See post #2 and act on that to see what you find !

You rebuilt the Carbs, you're sure the Floats are set/adjusted correctly?

so you choke it (more fuel is injected into carb) and it dies. Im thinking it needs more air? are you positive you cant adjust the ratio.

If you choke it more fuel goes into the motor and it will die. That motor ran for 40+ yrs with the carbs that are on it. In your first post it says it runs with the choke on? In this post you say it dies with the choke on? Which is it.
