Evinrude 88 SPL....need year info?

First of all, a big "THANK YOU" in advance for any info on this motor. I'm thinking of buying an Evinrude 88 SPL motor and I would like to find out the year, length, etc... Model & S/N as follows:<br /><br />E88MSLCUS<br /><br /><br />Thanks again!<br /><br />

1987 long shaft, 20 inch.

THANK YOU, G Dane. I went to the website you recommended and I saw the Evinrude info. I also checked out the Johnson section and there was a 88MSLCU, which is a 87 model. My research on the web shows that the SPL in 88 SPL stands for "Special Product Line" between Evinrude and Johnson. So, this Johnson model # could be the one?
