I was drving my boat back home and the engine lost power. I went from ~20mph down to 5mph. Turned motor off then back on. Went full throttle but engine doesnt go past a certain rpm and I go very slow. At home did a compression test which was ok. Did a spark plug test and found the 2 plugs on the left side give a spark, but the 2 plugs on the right dont give a spark at all. I recently replaced all 4 and the 2 on the right look new. Am I running on 2 out of 4 cylinders?? Please help, what should I do next? How can I fix this problem?

My guess is going to be a failed powerpack.Don't just want to guess at it though. Those buggers are expensive. You'll need to perform some more testing and see if the pack is putting out proper voltage to the coils of the two cylinders in question. If you don't have a peak reading volt meter ,you should just have the pack tested by a local reputable shop.Meanwhile ,check all electrical connections from pack to coils and insure that they are secure and making good contact.

I want to thank you for your advice. It was indeed the power pack (or cdi) unit. I found it relatively cheap online for ~65.00. I replaced the defective unit with the new one, all 4 plugs had spark, and the engine is running on all 4 cylinders...instead of 2. Thank You once again. John Macko
