Picked this up and it is in very good condition, little used. Late model 1973 No Spark. Took out the ignition components. Looks like someone replaced them in the not so distant past. Coils check out for continuity. Plug wires also. Ordered a replacement set of points and condensers although since the ones in there look new have a feeling it is something else??? Any ideas? What else could it be in a simple magneto outboard like this? Used drill to spin flywheel so plenty of RPM.

Emergency cut-out/shorting switch check OK?
If that model takes a clip is it in place?

Yes, I think that is on the right track! At first I ruled it out as when I disconnected on of the 2 plugs that come out from the switch I got the same result of no spark. When messing around with the magneto plate and etc. I noticed that the large hairy nut that screws onto the back of the switch just kept turning and not getting tight. After I did this I saw that the wires were flaking off their plastic cover which may have caused a ground short and hence no starting. The screw sleve that the nut screwed onto also seems to be broke in half. I just took this switch off and would rather just use the choke to kill it as another switch will be hard to find and the simpler I can make an outboard the better I like it. I guess I could just take out the 2 wires that go from that switch into the magneto plate without hurting anything. AM I right?
