Evinrude 9.5HP water pump kit

Hey guys, finally started grabbing what I need to work on my motors and the gearcase diagrams for my '69 9.5 and contents of the water pump confused me. I've got a service manual coming but it's taking it's sweet time from Arizona.

Anyways, I dropped the LU last night (mine is a long shaft) and first thing I noticed is there's no seal in the top of the extension tube, then I pulled the extension tube off and there's no seal between the extension tube and water pump housing. Was there one for the long shafts? And why are there 2 oil seals in the water pump kit?

Is it a Sierra water pump kit?

Is the #61 still up in the motor?

The bottom of the extension will have an o ring.

6 and 7 are not used in long shaft models. 59 & 61 must be in there or it won't run worth a hoot with the hood on.

Chris, it is the OEM kit, the O-ring still feels good on the extension tube, I haven't looked in the motor yet to see about seal #61 but I'll probably just end up getting a new one.
F_R, thanks for the confirmation. The motor runs poorly without the hood on but since they have 4 possible issues it's hard to say for sure.

Now... What about the different oil seals? They both look like the same ID but the OD is different.

Chris, good call on #61 being stuck inside the motor. I flipped the turtle on her back last night and it was staring at me.

I just saved you like 15 bucks
