Just got a 16' pontoon boat, and a 1998 Evinrude 9.9 four stroke. It came with a 4 blade prop on it, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I have no experience with the 4 blade, especially on a motor this small. How will this affect performance, if at all? Thanks for any input.

Without posting a max wot rpm reading as loaded won't be seeing the light at the end of the dark tunnel anytime soon. Buy and install an induction tach to play safely with props. A 4 blade prop will suit well that application, just need to find the right pitch for motor to rev at its full wot rpm range factory stated...

Without knowing at which wot revs is the motor running at while pushing heavy loads at slow pace is dangerous as will be extremely lugging badly the motor at the other side of the moon. Pushing at wot a heavy toon boat with extra hull drag it's like going up hill from a dead flat stop in third gear, will end stressing the piston rods along overheating the motor.
