Evinrude choke problem

I have a 1960 Evinrude 10 hp, when I pull choke knob out it will not hold the out position, Is it a linkage problem or could it be the plastic choke link detent that the choke tube rides in. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hard to tell without seeing it, but most likely the detent is worn.
