Hi All
I have a 1975 Evinrude 115, tonite I got it hooked up and ready for
her first startup of the year. I noticed that the throttle cable was not moving
Lo and behold, after checking it, It is broken. Well after 40 yrs I guess I cannot complain
Question is? I have a complete control box from a 1989 Evinrude 140
The only thing that will not work I believe is the power trim as they are two different systems

Or I can disassemble both boxes and take the cable I need
The cables I have are the same length on both boxes
Just trying to figure the best solution

would replace both those cables, as the second one doesn't owe you anything either. Assuming those are pre-79 versions, keep the four ends for possible future use (they clamp onto the cable wire). You can also replace just the cables, reusing the ends. There might be less hassle doing that.

The new box will have post-79 cables, so the end connections will be different -- need to check current motor and box connections if thinking of switching cables.
