Evinrude cuting out at full throtle

My 120 HP evinrude is cutting out when at full trottle surging between 4200 RPM and going all the way up to 58000 rpm,I have new gas ,runs at low RPM just fine<br />Help

steve@wv,<br /><br />"Surging" is usually indicative of fuel starvation.<br /><br />First place(s) to check are the integrity of the fuel line/connections all the way from the fuel tank to the engine.<br /><br />If your engine connection is old, replace it.

steve, 58000 is one hell of an rpm. A motor runs fastest on the leanest mixture, just before they blow up. nevjb

Dont forget to check the tank vent.

I agree with djohns19, look at the fuel delivery system including carbs. <br /><br />You are running with the airbox cover on, right? What year is the motor?<br /><br />Good luck!
