Hi.
I'm working on an E90FPLSIF that's running rough. It sounds and feels like it is starving for fuel. Is there any means to adjust the fuel injector performance, similar to a low speed fuel mixture needle? I'm not sure how I should go about troubleshooting. Please help!
Thanks,
J

Look at the spark plugs (Champion XC12PEPB). See if they have lost the platinum pad on the ground electrode. They should be at .030. If pad is missing they will be a lot wider. When putting in new plugs they need to be indexed. The open gap of the electrode must face the injector. Mark the plug so that anywhere in 180 degree toward the injector is facing the opening of the electrode.
You can't make adjustments to fuel mixtures. The computers makes those adjustments per emmision requirements.

here is a link to the top secret file sticky at the top of our forum. This is a how to on adjusting carbs. I would do a link and sync too. make sure your timing and carbs are operating in sync

Don't know if it helps, but I used to use a small amt. of ATF in my Mercedes diesels to keep the injectors in shape. Only about 6 oz. for a 20 gal. tank, so you would adjust accordingly.

[Edit. and found that fuel filter canisters have to be changed out religiously. There is probably a procedure for cleaning the injector system, similar to diesel purge. It sounds like that could be indicated.]

The system already puts a 200/1 oil mix into the fuel system to clean & lubricate the injectors. Other cleaners are not necessary.

In a diesel, the fuel cleans and lubes injectors as well, but....

Fuel invariably contains some contaminants that have an effect over time.
