I have a new-to-me 2011 Etec 60. There is a small hole in the midsection, in the front, right above the seam where the lower unit mates. Tried to attach a pic, but not allowed, so here's a link: http://server.panka.com/misc/evinrude_hole.jpg

When the boat goes back on the trailer with the engine trimmed out, water drains from this hole. Is that normal?

The hole is under water when the boat is in the water. Does it mean that the midsection is filled with water?

Thanks!

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say it's probably normal..
Seems like one of the water outlets for the cooling system. (I have a similar one on my '71 50hp.. Does the same thing you're describing.... )
But then again, mine is older..

Somebody here will know for sure though..

My 40 year old Evinrude has it too. I bet its there for draining water out so it doesn't freeze and bust to casting in the winter :)
