Evinrude Ficht EMM "computer problem"

Hello guys.I have the this problem with my EMM.Mine start it having problems about 1 year a go.It use to run fine for about an hour and it use to shutdown the engine without warnings or anything.If you will try to started again the 3 light will state on and the engine will not start again for another hour"guessing as it cool down"


It have been doing that for the past year.Today finally quit and it took about 4 hours after to start again for about 3 min and them it did not start again.I hook it to the computer with the software and all I got it was a message saying that it was no communication between the computer and the engine.This time I think that finally had it.Any advice from you guys will help. Do you think that it is the EMM problem?Also can you guide me to where to send it for repair and how much do they charge for dealer BRP refurbish and where is the best place to send it basic on your experience?Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,
the probllem with the communication betwen EMM and computer can caused by another problem.

I had the same, it was the interface once and my laptop somtimes was not working on com plug.

I thought my EMM is broken.....but after i found another laptop and cable i also found the error in memory.

But i had only one light on gauge.

Before repair the EMM make dobble check on laptop and interface.

You may sometimes have to change/allocate the com port to COM1, slightly depending on your comp and set-up. If the allocated com port is above 9, it may not work.

Setting up the software and getting the proper drivers can be tricky, it took me a couple times to get it. I had to assign the usb cable to a comm port on my pc after i got the proper driver, and then had to assign the evdiags software to the same port. It defaults to comm1 but when you hook the cable up and plug into the motor then turn on the software it goes to comm4 now. good luck

I have the same problem, but mine runs for fifteen minutes and shuts down and startes back up in ten to twenty minutes. the same three lights are on. my computer will not communicat untill it cools off and is ready to start again. can you let me know what you found out.
