does anyone have any ideas of how to take apart the fuel air connection on a 1955 evinrude pressurised fuel system. The two "o" rings are leaking.

You weasel them out through the holes at the connector ends. A hook and dental pick work well.

With all do respects to paul, that method works well on the later stuff. How ever it is impossible on these older style connectors. The o-rings are just too fat. The correct way to handle this job is to get a long skinny punch. Place the punch in the hose end of the connector and tap out the piston, spring,o-ring and bronze plug. You will have to do this twice, once for each side. Replace o-rings, apply a small amount of gasket sealer to the bronze plug and tap it back in. Simple this job takes 5 min. The tricky part is finding a punch. You may have to make one.
