I have an evinrude 6hp twin 2-stroke 'Fisherman' outboard. I've a problem with tick over so I decided to take thongs to bits & inspect/clean etc. I decide to remove the little thing behind the fuel filter, haven't got a clue what you call it, but as you probably guessed it had springs, 2, one large & one smaller both with caps. Anyone got any idea how to put this back together correctly?

thanx in advance, Graeme

Re: evinrude fuel filter

Graeme, Sounds like you took apart the fuel pump.
I dont know your particular model but all fuel pumps work the same basic way.The diaphram is pulsed by the motor, the inlet valve lets in the fuel from tank and closes so it can pump it out the outlet valve to the carb. There is a logical flow in from the tank into the pump and out to the carb. One side of the diaphram faces the pulse port the other side faces the gas. There are 3 ports one is the pulse port one in from tank one out to carb. While you are at it it would be good to rebuild the pump. Most any dealer should have parts.Working without a manual is a no no it gets you in trouble,oh you know that.
If you give us a better discription of your original problem and the model number we may be able to help.
That pump fits a number of motors so parts should be readily available even over there.

Darlo,

If you buy the fuel pump kit from a dealer, they usually come with an exploded view of the pump.
