Thanks so much for the earlier info. I have discovered that the fuel pump diaphram on my 1957 evinrude 35hp is ruptured. I have found several fuel pump kits here on iboats but i dont know which kit I need. Any help would be great, thank you

Re: evinrude fuel pump kit??

the pump looks like a factory instlation, I couldnt imagine how it would fuel itself without a fuel pump, how did it originally function?
Also, the title says 1969, but the model# is 25532-02097 which acording to my research would make it a 1957 35hp. Am I way off base here or what? Please help!

Someone could have changed the transom mount for some reason. Go to BRP Parts catalogs and you can get and exploded view of your motor and parts.

Re: evinrude fuel pump kit??

That is a 1957 model number alright. As I said, it did not have a fuel pump as shipped from the factory. But a "Cruiser" fuel system with a pump was an optional dealer-installed accessory. Motors without the pump kit used a pressurized gas tank where the motor pumped air into the tank to force gas back out to the carburetor. Starting in 1958, some 35s had a fuel pump, but a different one than the accessory one we are talking about here. The Evinrude accessory pump actually was stock on it's Gale cousins. By 1960, all Evinrudes had fuel pumps except the little gravity feed motors. Unless you can supply a picture, I have no way of knowing which system you have.

However, if your pump mounts on the side of the powerhead with a gasket and two screws as the one in the picture does, the one I suggested will work. Here's another picture of a 40 with it's stock pump. It is marked up to show somebody how to convert a 35.

Re: evinrude fuel pump kit??

Themaster, yep that is the pump that dealers installed as part of the Cruiser Fuel System back in 1957. I have two of them out in the shop, both have bad diaphragms (well, duh, 50 years) I havent found any new diaphragms. Just slap on the new pump and go. Piece of cake.
