I have a 60hp 1983 Evinrude and I'm bit confused with the different drain plug types. According to exploded view the top one and the bottom seems to be the same type and the seems to be two different ones. One is called 0307551 Drain Screw, Allen Type[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Roboto Regular, Geneva, Lucida Grande, Helvetica Neue, sans-serif] is OEM and a washer seems to be included (so I'm guessing you don't have to buy any of the 3 different washers), the other is called 18-2387 DrainPlug Allen Or Slotted - No Gasket so I'm guessing then I would have to buy one of the 3 washers? I'm a bit unsure which ones I got now so I'm thinking that replacing them with new drain plugs and washers would be nice.

Should I opt for the first one? If so which washer would I need next year?

Get two of the same, the one with the washer if you wish. Only possible difference is that some have a short magnet on the end of the screw to collect metal shavings that come off the gears during normal use. That one would be placed in the bottom drain hole. Otherwise, the two screws are the same thread, same diameter, same length.
