Hello friends,<br /><br />Please can you help me I have an outboard Evinrude BE30BALESS and regardless of what I do I am still at a loss as to how it works.<br />Mechanically it’s straight forward as you may guess it’s the electrics.<br />Now you may say buy the manual, to late, I have purchased the Evinrude/Jonhnson outboard shop manual (Clymer 2-40HP 1973-1990)) and its only made it worse.<br />What I need help with is<br />It’s a basic model pull the cord and away it goes.No remote switches or anything like that.<br />In order to understand the manual I need to know what type of electrical system it has<br />Is it a CD2ULL ignition ect.<br />From pulling the cord to getting a spark how does it work, do you have a basic circuit drawing. <br />What type of carburettor is it?<br />To be honest the book has so much information and its lost on me because I do not know what sections to read.<br />Please can you help.<br /><br />Thank you<br /><br />Brian

This is a perfect example of why I recommend OEM manuals only.<br />The manual you have has the info in it, but you must carefully extract the correct info matching your model. That manual breaks it down into particular models, so that's where the confusion starts.<br />Read into the manual just a bit farther, and I think most of your questions will be answered, just make sure the heading covers your same model and year.
