Which one of these 1974 ID numbers are a Long or Short shaft and what are the actual lengths of the two differant shafts if you know.I know the short may be around 16 inches and the long around 20 but whats the exact lenghths...Thanks

Model 50ESL74M long shaft. 20 to 23 inches.

short shaft is 15-17 inches.

Thanks very much,so do they vary in some years or what.I see you say a range on the longshaft of 20 to 23 but is there a known length? Would like to know the exact length of the long if possible in 1974 but that may take someone who has one in their possesion...Thanks again though...

long 20 inches, short 15 inches, that is from where it sits on transom, to the AV plate directly above the prop. older motor are longer due to water intakes.
