I was wondering if anyone has used the Tygon (clear yellow) fuel lines on the low boy 9.9 & 15 hp style motors instead of the normal black line. I see they now sell it in sizes up to 1/2" ID. I was thinking it would be easier to route around the back & under the hood latch than the thicker norm, It must do OK with the heat as its used in most chainsaws, high rev/heat husky's, Stihl's etc. I understand it's ok with the ethanol as well, I put a section on a 9.5 last season and it seems to be holding up fine, I like how I can see the fuel flowing to carb /from pump as well, Just wondering if anyone has tried it and had other results or opinions, :)

timely post, Kodi..I sourced some clear tygon recently on the net..I'm with you on the outboard environment issue as it's widely used on pwc's now...I'd have to search again, but it seems one place sold it in 3 ft. lengths...thought I'd check with some small engine shops locally as well

Yeh' they have it on ebay all the way up to fifty ft rolls, I have used it many times for the smaller vac lines on multi carbed outboard motors with good results so far, And due to a botched ebay order I was sent 2 sizes of larger line 10ft of 1/2 ID & 10 ft of 3/8 ID so my thoughts are to give it a go and see how it holds up, unless I hear something different, I like the way it fits tighter over the carb / fuel pump nipples and as stated earlier being able to track fuel flow seems to be a plus. If there are some bad results out there would like to hear about them also, if you have some info good or bad please opine.

I am using it for the small oil return lines on my twins. No issues so far....and it's been a few years.

The added wall thickness of the std fuel line helps with abrasion as it passes under the head/latch area/lower cowl - it's normally a tight fit on those motors.

Not sure that helps...

I have used Tygon for years, it has drawbacks: It gets realt gets hard. It tends to shrink a little, it gets yellow and brittle with age. It kinks much easier than regular fuel lines if the bend radius is too tight. It does work however, but it is not good where flexibility is important, due to it becoming stiff with age.
