I have a 1960 lark 2 and one of the cylinders has no spark. The spark plug wire doesn't look so good so I want to replace it. I have looked on this site and all of the spark plug wires have caps on them and not just the wire. I also only need about 2-3 ft. Am I looking at the right ones? Can anyone tell me where I could find one? Thanks!

It is more likely to be points, condensor or coil issues. If the plug wire is at fault,
Step 2 will involve popping the flywheel in any event.

Step 1 will have been acquiring a service manual.

Both coils are brand new as well as points and condensers. I already have a service manual and I have popped the flywheel off....

I bought 5' of 7mm copper core plug wire from Shucks @ $.69/ft for mine. It was plenty for both cylinders.Clean your parts really well any metal dust can ground your spark. check your plug ends for continuity before putting the wires in the coils.;)

Real "wire" wire is getting pretty hard to find in some areas. Some auto parts stores have it and some don't. Do not use car wire in any case. If your auto parts store doesn't have it, try one that caters to farmers. They use the stuff on their tractors and stuff. Also, the obvious---marine repair shops and/or lawn mower shops. Shoot, if all else fails go to http://shop.evinrude.com/ They only go back to 1968, but the ignition system is pretty much the same.

OK, did you have spark on both cylinders before did all these new components?
Did you change out these parts because you were troubleshooting an ignition problem, or was this just routine maintenance?

No I had no spark on either cylinder that is why I replaced the ignition system. I have a multimeter so how do I check the continuity? Thanks!

Re: Evinrude lark 2 spark plug wires

You need to set the meter to "Ohms" or "resistance" and you need the same value as you get by touching the two test lead ends together...essentially zero ohms.
Check the plug wire for continuity between the two ends.

edit: some meters have a "continuity" setting....if yours does, use that.
